Our approach

Every statistic on SaaSStatistics.marketing is sourced, dated, and checked before it gets published. This page explains exactly how we collect data, how we decide what qualifies as a credible source, and how often we revisit numbers to keep them accurate.

Our Data Collection Process

We do not generate statistics. We aggregate, verify, and contextualize numbers that already exist in credible public and proprietary sources, then present them in a format that is easy to scan and cite.

Our process follows four steps for every statistic published on this site:

01Step
Sourcing

We pull data from original research reports, company earnings disclosures, industry benchmark studies, government databases, and surveys conducted by recognized research firms.

02Step
Cross-Verification

Where possible, we compare a statistic against at least one additional independent source. If two credible sources disagree significantly, we note the discrepancy rather than picking one silently.

03Step
Attribution

Every number on this site is linked back to its original source. We do not present statistics without a traceable origin.

04Step
Contextualization

We add the surrounding context needed to interpret a number correctly, such as sample size, survey year, industry segment, or company stage, so readers are not misled by numbers pulled out of context.

What Counts as a Credible Source

We prioritize sources in this order:

01
Primary research

Original studies, surveys, and benchmark reports published directly by research firms, analyst groups, or SaaS companies themselves.

02
Public company filings

SEC filings, earnings calls, and investor reports for publicly traded SaaS companies.

03
Established industry benchmarks

Recurring reports from recognized firms that publish SaaS-specific benchmarks on a consistent basis.

04
Government and institutional data

Statistics from government agencies, trade associations, and academic institutions.

We do not cite unverified blog posts, anonymous forum claims, or statistics that cannot be traced to an original source.

Update Frequency

SaaS metrics shift as new reports are published and market conditions change. To keep our statistics current, we follow this update schedule:

Update Cadence

  • Quarterly review: Every statistic on the site is checked at least once per quarter against its original source to confirm it has not been revised or superseded.
  • Immediate updates: When a major new industry report is released, we update the relevant statistics as soon as the new data is verified, rather than waiting for the next scheduled review.
  • Version dating: Each page displays the date it was last updated, so readers always know how current the data is.

Why This Matters

SaaS marketing and revenue leaders use this site to benchmark their own performance and make budget decisions. Outdated or unverified statistics lead to bad decisions. Our methodology exists to make sure every number here can be trusted, traced, and used with confidence.

Corrections and Feedback

If you find a statistic that appears outdated, misattributed, or inconsistent with its original source, we want to know. Reach out through our contact page and we will review and correct it promptly.
